We are used to working in all sorts of different expensive materials but there are always anxious moments when you have to order up almost 2 ½ tonnes of marine grade stainless steel for a single component. This job required a 50mm thick base plate, 25mm plate stiffeners and a 7.5m long 18” tube to be made into a navigation aid for Loch Spelve which is on the South coast of Mull.

All dressed and polished up before being loaded onto a Hiab truck for the delivery to Oban where the customer will fix it in place at the entrance  to Loch Spelve.
