We assisted our client with the careful dimensioning for the purchase of a 14m long replacement Archimedes screw conveyor that is used to move cement from their storage shed to a discharge hopper. The work had to be carried out over a weekend to eliminate down time to their facility.
The new screw was assembled adjacent to the plant and after disconnection of the old screws’ electrics, it was removed vertically using a large mobile crane and the replacement lowered into position for final securing to the support steelwork. The inlet and outlet pipes were modified as expected and the screw run up into production on schedule.
Cement installations are always unpleasant places to work as the dry cement pervades everywhere!
